Skylight

     - for Rocky & Noel

Our neighbor
     across the street
works in the
     steel industry,
his wife's a nurse,
     and both work
swing shifts.

On some dark
     winter mornings,
I can look out
     our semi-circular
living room window
     as I head down-
stairs for coffee
     and see their
bathroom skylight
     glowing white.

Seeing their light
     always makes me
feel a bit better—
     knowing that
we're not
     the only ones.
