i took my invisalign of cubic zirconia out of my mouth
& placed it in the palm of a man who thought he was god.

a black cat weaved its spine beneath a stepladder & a crown
of float glass shimmered on the third rung.

i braided myself a chain of flowers with skin
from my bruising knees, & licked blood-rust
from the sword with my tongue.

i told my disciples to fall asleep to the sound of metal against a throat,
they must document where they traveled to the moment they all wake up.
