The Lost Boy is Quenched

I have watched the news every night for ten nights & have heard no voices like yours no silhouettes like ours I have met a woman now she smiles very large & her hair is braided beautifully the news says to boil the water before we drink & I do not the fire reminds me of you of all the works I’ve modeled after yours but don’t you see? I have a lover now I’ve burned all those words I’ve scorched my mouth numb on cheap ramen noodles & hope that in this moment I can become water & that she is much like myself & will drink without worry it is night eleven & the television issues its daily warning Toxins: Men are losing their tongues. Boil your water. & my lover stops to ask “if I did such a thing, what would become of him?”
