your scent settled in my mouth like a prayer. i don’t know why i said later when i meant this song, these strobe lights, your taste knotting my throat. i guess i didn’t yet believe in yes or a life without skirting around my sutures. eyes open, i wanted to meet you inside that red-blooded moment. to hurt.
