Volume Six Issue One
Special Feature: The Poetry of Aurora House

Editor's Note

In the winter and spring of 2013, I had the honor and privilege of working with the women of Aurora House as facilitator of their creative writing workshop. While I had developed and facilitated community writing workshops in the past, and had worked as a college composition instructor for many years, this was new territory for me. I had no idea what to expect. I knew that the work they produced would be good. But, I did not know that it would be extraordinary. As the weeks passed, it was a delight to watch as the women learned to trust their own voices and to believe in the true value of what they might say in their poetry and prose. I was, and remain, inspired by their strength and humbled by their grace. I am sure that our readers will enjoy exploring this special section of Glass: A Journal of Poetry, in which the work of the women of Aurora House is showcased, as much as I enjoyed working with each of them to produce it. — Holly Burnside co-founder/co-editor, Glass: A Journal of Poetry
