Kiss, Kiss, Senator Mitch

When Doris Day dances around that movie bedroom in “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” swirling around in her pretty white dress, smiling and singing Que Sera, Sera — as if nothing really matters because What Will Be Will Be — I always want to scream. Look when love or cancer, or the crazy guy with a gun runs towards us, smacking his lips kiss, kiss — we’re always surprised — but goddammit, never close your eyes.
