Micro-review of The Uncertainty of Light by Alana Saltz

The Uncertainty of Light by Alana Saltz Blanket Sea Presss, 2020 “Hold it close/even if it scares you,” writes Alana Saltz in her chapbook, The Uncertainty of Light (Blanket Sea Press, 2020). The speaker in this collection does just that; she holds close the highs and lows of living with chronic illness, as the body tries to keep itself at arm’s length. In doing so, The Uncertainty of Light places the body’s individual parts including each synapse, cell, vein, cartilage, muscle, and bone, among others under a metaphoric microscope, turning them into lyrical images and metaphors waiting to be embraced.
