When someone first told me the statement that is also the title of Wang’s chapbook, long ago now, a light went off in my head, something like the echoing “light light light” in this chapbook’s first poem. But it’s unclear whether Wang even believes it herself: at her best, her poems melt the real into the “violet mist” of dreams: “Who will strike you down? Only dreaming.”
