Glass: A Journal of Poetry Volume Two Issue Two

I Overcome Physics
I lie awake at 2 a.m.
as subatomic particles collide
somewhere a train enters a terminal
while you untie your robe
an explosion rattles windows
you button your coat cursing the cold
I bite my tongue until it hurts
to keep from touching you
you regret your new shoes
as horses stand asleep somewhere
the instant space swallows light
the proof of some fabric we could not weave
you chew your bottom lip
then remove your gloves
somewhere a glass is emptied & refilled
as I measure the distance between us
